We create award winning cheese!

Taste plays a vital part in the creation of any cheese, and with years of experience of creating moreish flavour combinations under our collective belt, the team at Croome Cheese is perfectly placed to satisfy your cravings for delicious cheese – whatever your preferences.

When Nick Hodgetts’ family started farming on the Croome Estate – a “beautifully manicured estate of 15,000 acres designed by Capability Brown”.
Nick was born on the estate, and this provenance inspired the name of the company that he would go on to build with his wife Anita. With over 40 years of cheese making experience and experimenting with Sheep, Buffalo and Goats Milk (being one of the first in the UK to do so) he decided to change direction into delicious cheddar pairings.
Leanne and Andy, Anita’s daughter and son-in law joined the business, aiding its evolution into a cheese business that not only satisfies the demands of cheese lovers but tells its story with pride.
Locally-sourced ingredients play a starring role in the cheese flavours. This dedication to supporting fellow local producers where possible still rings true today. For example, the honey that goes into our Jubilee Fig cheese is made by bees that forage on the farm and while Lea & Perrins Worcester Sauce isn’t exactly a small-scale business, they’re located around a mile away from us so we’re proud to use them as a supplier.

At Croome Cheese, we’re more than just a team — we’re a family united by a love of great cheese and local produce. From our cheesemakers and packers to our friendly sales team, every member plays a part in crafting and sharing our award-winning cheeses.
We take pride in what we do and believe you can taste that passion in every bite.

Nick has been making cheese for over 40 years, it all started as a young man working and living on his family’s estate in Croome. Experimenting with making cheeses with sheep, buffalo and goats’ milk and becoming one of the first in the UK to do so.
When he broke his leg during a rugby match …his friends thought rather than listening to his moaning they would enrol him on a cheese making course at Hindlip and the rest is history!

Leanne joined the team in 2014 as Business Development Manager. Based in the office at the dairy she oversees the daily running of the business.
There is no query you can think of / ask that Leanne cannot answer!

Andy originally joined the team in 2015, after leaving to gain more experience he returned as our Production and Operations Manager in 2020… what can we say, he can’t stay away!
Andy is our main man! From organising the team, to creating production plans, to overseeing the making, packing and despatch of our wonderful cheeses! He is our resident comedian (with many a head shake from his wife Leanne) and keeps the team going on a daily basis!

Anita is our part of our Retail Support team, she is also THE Mrs Hodgetts, (Nick’s better half). Anita is usually found out and about, visiting our retail customers, offering support and carrying out sampling sessions.

Pete joined Croome Cheese as Production Manager in 2024. He is Andy’s right-hand man in ensuring the production and packing room runs smoothly.

Gary joined the team in 2014, with a brief spell away rejoined in 2024. Gary is our ‘chief cheesemaker’ and is responsible for making all of the delicious Croome Cheese customers enjoy!
You may also see him out and about at shows so be sure to go and say ‘Hi’!

Sarah has been with us since 2019. She is the port of call for all things Cheese! Orders… she knows it! Shows… she can organise it! Farm shops… she can tell you who and where to find them!
She organises our wonderful show team and gets them out on the road to food festivals, food and drink shows, markets and tasting events.

Jack started here in 2021 within Production but very quickly made his way to our Despatch cold room.
He is in charge of collating, packing, despatching and delivering orders out to all our wonderful customers.
In all the months he has been at Croome, you will very rarely see Jack without a bobble hat on… even in the summer!
